Derecho a la eutanasia y objeción de conciencia: novedades de la ley española y panorama internacional.

Spain was the eighth country in the world to legalize euthanasia and assisted suicide, until now only recognized in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg (2002), Switzerland; and, outside Europe, Colombia (1997), Canada (2016), some states of Australia and the United States and, recently (2022) New Zealand.
The new Spanish law has some singularities, in contrast to most pro-euthanasia laws in other countries: first, the recognition of a new subjective right to request one's own death from third parties, based on human autonomy and freedom, and a rather restrictive conception of the right to conscientious objection of health professionals, materialized in the implementation of a public registry of objectors.
